I just want to do some fancy scrolling effects on a new site I’m designing, so I’m checking out the tutorials at Learning jQuery. But I keep getting distracted with all the other amazing things one can do with jQuery.
There are quite a few javascript libraries out there, but things appear to be coalescing behind only a couple: jQuery and MooTools. What amazes me is that these frameworks are platform-agnostic, work in many different browsers (including iPhone’s MobileSafari—take that, Flash), and don’t lock up your content in a proprietary format (take that again, Flash).
And while, at this point, there are many things that Flash is more capable of achieving, I’m getting more comfortable with the fact that I haven’t gotten around to really learning it.
